At Morningside Baptist Church, we are a community of believers committed to the glory of God, centered on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We strive to be a church that is faithful to the Scriptures, loving in our relationships, and passionate about living out the Gospel in our everyday lives.
We Are CHRISTIANS
We follow the Lord Jesus Christ and seek to honor Him in all things. As His disciples, we are committed to His mission, sharing the Good News with the world, and growing together in faith.
We Are PROTESTANTS
Rooted in the Five Solas of the Reformation, we believe:
Scripture Alone – God’s Word is our ultimate authority. (2 Timothy 3:16–17)
Grace Alone – Salvation is a gift from God, not earned by works. (Romans 11:6)
Faith Alone – We are saved by grace through faith, not by our own efforts. (Ephesians 2:8–9)
Christ Alone – Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. (John 14:6)
Glory to God Alone – All things exist for God's glory. (Romans 11:36)
We Are BAPTISTS
As Baptists, we hold to key convictions that shape our church life and practice:
Bible as the Final Authority – Scripture is the guide for our beliefs and actions. (1 Thessalonians 2:13)
Regenerate Church Membership – We believe the church is composed of believers who have professed faith in Christ. (Acts 2:41)
Priesthood of All Believers – Every Christian has direct access to God and the responsibility to serve. (1 Peter 2:5–9)
Autonomy of the Local Church – Each congregation is self-governing under the leadership of Christ. (Acts 6:1–5)
Baptism for Believers Only – We practice believer’s baptism by immersion as a symbol of faith in Christ. (Matthew 28:18–19)
Our Guiding Values
Our church is also guided by these principles that reflect our mission and values:
Be a Berean – Study the Scriptures daily, as the Bereans did, to grow in truth. (Acts 17:11)
By His Grace, for His Glory – We acknowledge that all we do is by God’s grace and for His honor. (1 Corinthians 15:10; 10:31)
God is Most Glorified in Us When We Are Most Satisfied in Him – Our deepest joy comes from delighting in God. (Psalm 37:4)
Missions Exists Because Worship Doesn’t – We are called to reach the world with the Gospel because worship is not happening everywhere. (3 John 6–8)
In Essentials, Unity; In Non-Essentials, Liberty; In All Things, Charity – We seek unity in the core truths of the faith, freedom in less essential matters, and love in everything. (Romans 14:1–15:7; 1 Corinthians 16:14)
